About the Exhibit
Trauma inspired art; this collection is called “My Journey into the Circle of Life”. My journey through addictions, grief, loss and intergenerational pain. This collection was my voice when I couldn’t verbalise what I was feeling. The paintings were intuitive, no planning. A distraction from the stress of everyday life. It made me focus and feel because I felt numb. It opened my emotions and released them into a sea of paint, linework, textures, images infused with nature, my healing place. Writing has also helped me go deeper into the meaning of the painting and what I was feeling at the time, putting poetry into story form to create a living art story.
Eagle Spirit, the painting that started the 2020 collection titled, My Journey into the Circle of Life is a painting I did after my mother transitioned into the light.
Family Guidance depicts my mom, dad, gram, grampy and all my ancestors and was the last painting that ended the collection.
